FAQs

How does Choice Home Warranty work?
Choice Home Warranty coverage begins 30 days after they receive payment, or sometimes sooner if you provide proof of prior warranty coverage with no lapse. Once coverage begins: You can submit a claim 24/7/365 online, by phone, or using their mobile app whenever a covered appliance or home system breaks. CHW contacts their chosen service provider within 4 hours of your claim submission, but it may take up to 48 hours for the provider to accept, after which CHW provides you the technician's contact information and an appointment time. You pay the service fee outlined in your contract each time you request service. If the repair fails within 30 days, the company corrects the issue without requiring another service fee.
How long does a Choice Home Warranty plan last?
A standard Choice Home Warranty contract lasts one year, but the company often offers additional discounts when you purchase multiple years at once.
Do I need a home warranty if I have homeowners insurance?
Home warranties and homeowners insurance cover different things. Homeowners insurance covers damage due to hazards like extreme weather, fire, theft, or vandalism, but it does not cover damage to appliances or systems due to normal wear and tear. Home warranties are designed to fill that gap.
How do I cancel my Choice Home Warranty?
You can cancel your Choice Home Warranty plan at any time by contacting their customer service department. However, CHW contracts have a long list of state-specific provisions. Check your contract terms and conditions to confirm how they handle cancellations in your area. In most states, you'll receive a full refund minus any service costs incurred by CHW (where the law permits) if you cancel in the first 30 days. If you cancel after 30 days, you receive a prorated refund based on the remaining amount of your contract term, minus any service costs and a $50 cancellation fee (or the amount the law permits your state).
